Butere Girls has dominated news and social media debate in the last two days after they expressed frustration in staging their play.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has renewed his attacks on the National Intelligence Service (NIS) following the drama that has emerged regarding the Butere Girls play.

Speaking during Mwai Kibaki's memorial lecture on Friday, April 11, Gachagua expressed that the NIS had been exposed to the controversy surrounding the 'Echoes of War' play.

According to the former DP, if there were reservations in the government and security agencies about the play, an efficient intelligence service would have taken action from the beginning.

"They only noticed about the play in the finals in Nakuru because of a failed intelligence system. If a decision needed to be made that the play was bad and people should not see it, it could have been stopped at the initial stages," Gachagua claimed.
