Kenya Power has announced scheduled planned power interruptions across several counties, including Nairobi and Machakos, on Thursday.

Kenya Power has announced scheduled planned power interruptions across several counties on Thursday, October 9.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 8, the company said the outages, which will run from morning to evening, are part of maintenance works 

In Nairobi County, power will be interrupted along Mombasa Road from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Part of Intercounty, Small World Country Club, Game Ranch, Aquaest, Kanini Clinic, Brava, Lukenya Academy, Ksyumbunguo Hotel, Amazing Kenya, and adjacent customers. 

Another outage will affect Part of Kitsuru, including Gachie Market, Nyari, Part of Thingiri Road, Redhill Road, Limuru Road, and nearby customers during the same hours.

In Machakos County, areas in Matuu will experience a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Affected zones include Matuu Town, Kakumini, Kithendu, Muthesya, Mamba, Sofia, Ndalani, Kisiiki, Mavoloni, Kambi Mawe, Thungululu, Kwa Ndolo, Yatta Water, Kateki, Kaluluini, Kyasioni, Maiyuni, Ithekethini, Ngengi, Mwambathana, Sinai, Kilango and Ikatini.

Kathini, Itunduimuni, Mikuyu, Kakongo, Iviani, Mbembani, Kivingoni, Kondo, Kitengela, Kauthulini, Kasua Ngove, Nigeria, Malikiti, Kaumoni, Kimangu, Kambi ya Ndeke, Kalukuni, Kasooni, Yee Mwatu, Masewani, Isaane, and adjacent customers will also be affected.

In Uasin Gishu County, power will be cut off in Kapchumba between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Kapchumba Secondary School, Lower Kiplombe, Kambi Thomas, Chemabwai, and nearby customers.

In Kisumu County, residents in Apondo Kasare will also be affected from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The blackout will cover Apondo Kasare, Thur Dibuoro, Nyakwere, Kongowo, KEMFRI, Sango Rota, Sangoro, Nyawalo, and surrounding areas.

In Kakamega County, the planned outage will affect Butali Market from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas impacted include Butali Market, Butali Sugar Factory, Mastakha Market, Chebwayi, Matete Market, Kivaiywa Secondary, Bande Market, and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, parts of Gikondi and Kibutio will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The interruption will affect Gikondi Market, Mate Primary, Gikondi Technical, SR Ireen Secondary, Nduma Market, Muthuthini Market, Kaharo Secondary, Kibutio Secondary, and nearby customers.

In Kirinyaga County, areas of Kianyaga, Rukenya, and Philadelphia will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Affected locations include Kiandubiu Projects, Kiandai Market, Kianyaga Water Pump, Kianyaga Timber, Kianyaga Town, Rwambiti Village, Gichonjo-Ini Market, Kanju Village, Philadelphia Hotel, Riagacheru Village, and surrounding customers.

Meanwhile in Kiambu County, two major outages are expected. 

The first will affect Kikuyu Town and Magana from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Magana Complex, Part of Muthiga, Kidfarmacco, Universal Factory, Regen, Ondiri, Connix Factory, Karai, Part of Gitaru, Kihumo, and adjacent customers. 

The second outage will cover YMCA, Broadways, and BAT areas, impacting Mt. Kenya University, Munene Industries, Bhucho, Nampark, Kenya Paper Sintel, Mama Millers, Slaughter, Vine Park, and neighboring customers.
