Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has dismissed claims of orchestrating the abduction of Dela Ward MCA Yussuf Hussein.
Speaking on Saturday, April 12, Governor Abdullahi denied inviting the Dela Ward MCA to Nairobi before he was abducted.
The Wajir Governor noted that he was not aware that Yussuf was in Nairobi until he was told that the MCA had been abducted.
“I did not call him, I didn’t even know he was in Nairobi until I was called at around midnight and told Yusuf had been abducted,” said Abdullahi.
He also alleged that the claims are orchestrated by unnamed political actors in Wajir ahead of the 2027 elections.

Governor Abdullahi threatened to pursue legal action against Yusuf over the allegations.
“I will be pursuing separate legal action. I honestly believe that the allegations were scripted by an unknown political actor in Wajir who has consistently fought me. We don’t believe the statement issued yesterday was the words of Yussuf,” he added.
On Friday, April 11, Yussuf claimed that he was abducted because of the 2024 Wajir County budget and linked his kidnapping to Governor Abdullahi.
“My illegal abduction, detention, and confinement incommunicado and my experience and interaction with my abductors all had the fingerprint of Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi,” he claimed.
Yussuf went missing on September 13, 2024, after being abducted along Enterprise Road in Nairobi.
The Dela Ward resurfaced on Saturday, March 8 evening, in his home in Nairobi and reunited with his family.
