The Ministry of Public Service has announced 200 job opportunities for drivers in the Ministry of Education across 47 counties.
In an advert on Tuesday, April 15, the Ministry invited qualified drivers to apply for the positions.
“The Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development invites applications from qualified persons for the position of Driver II, CSG 15 at the Ministry of Education,” read the advert in part.
To qualify for the jobs, applicants are required to have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution, a valid driving License, and a police clearance certificate
The applicants must have attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution, passed the suitability test for Grades III, v, and vi, and have at least two years of driving experience.

The responsibilities of the drivers will include: driving a motor vehicle as authorized, carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, maintenance of work tickets for the vehicles assigned, and ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road.
The drivers are also tasked with ensuring safety of the passengers and goods therein and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.
The drivers will receive a salary of between Ksh19, 340 and Ksh24, 470 per month. They will also receive a house allowance depending on the region they have been deployed, a commuter allowance of Ksh3,000 per month and a leave allowance of Ksh 4,000 per year.

Interested applicants are required to submit their application by filling Application for Employment Form PSC 2 which is available on Public Service Commission of Kenya website (www.publicservice.go.ke) and attach copies of the certificate as required in the advert.
The applications should then be sent to the Ministry of Public Service or hand delivered at the Ministry’s office at Uchumi House 12th Floor, Room 1201 between 8.00 AM and 5.00 PM.

Further, the Ministry said only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews, and they will be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic certificate, and other testimonials during interviews.
