Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has slammed Daadab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim for claiming that he is not a Kenyan and should be expelled.
In a statement on Thursday, April 24, Natembeya termed the allegations by Maalim as false and inflammatory.
He noted that he was born, raised, and schooled in Kenya and has worked in the country, moving from a regional commissioner to a governor
“I have taken note of the reckless and deeply troubling remarks by a certain politician who not only questioned my nationality but even suggested I be expelled from Kenya. Such incendiary statements are false, inflammatory, and strike at the very heart of our shared identity as Kenyans.
“My roots and service let me be unequivocal: I was born in Kenya, raised in Kenya, educated in Kenya, and have devoted my entire career to public service in this country, from my early days as a Regional Commissioner in high-pressure zones to my current role as Governor of Trans-Nzoia County,” said Natembeya.

The Trans Nzoia Governor highlighted that his track record demonstrates a steadfast commitment to the welfare, security, and development of all Kenyans, irrespective of ethnicity or region.
He reiterated his opposition to abolishing ID vetting in the country, arguing that it is a national security issue and that border regions have unique challenges that demand prudent safeguards.
“To brand this duty-driven appeal as 'discrimination' is a distortion of both fact and intent. Every responsible leader must raise the alarm when processes intended to protect our people are weakened. Rejection of hate-filled rhetoric, worse still was the invocation of genocidal tropes, the so-called “Rwanda way” and “DRC way” in an attempt to justify punitive measures against me. Such references are abhorrent,” Natembeya stated.
He further said he will not be intimidated and will continue speaking boldly on security and governance issues.
“As Governor, I remain unwavering in my pledge to put Kenya—and all her people ahead of partisan politics. I will continue to speak boldly on matters of security and governance, guided by facts and the public interest,” he added.
This comes days after Maalim criticized Governor Natembeya over his stance on the abolishment of ID vetting in border areas.
The Daadab MP claimed that if people continue to be discriminated they would destroy the country, citing M23 in DRC.
Maalim further alleged that Governor Natembeya is not originally from Kenya and should leave the country.
“Natembeya belongs somewhere else; he doesn’t belong to Kenya, by the way. His ideas are crooked, let him leave here and go somewhere else,” Maalim stated.
