Kwach died on Monday, April 28, while receiving treatment for meningitis.

Veteran radio presenter Edward Kwach has passed away.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 29, Kwach’s family announced that he died on Monday night while receiving treatment for meningitis.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Carey, that occurred last night, 28th April 2025, while receiving treatment for meningitis. Carey touched the lives of many through his voice and presence on the airwaves, becoming a trusted and familiar companion to listeners across the country,” read part of the statement.

Kwach has been working as a radio presenter at the Standard Media Group's Spice FM.

The family said that Kwach will be remembered for his warmth, humour, and exceptional taste in music, which brought joy and comfort to so many.

Kwach’s family also thanked Kenyans for their support during the time the veteran radio host was unwell.

“His passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew him personally and the many more who connected with him through his work.

“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support during his illness, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who donated blood, visited, and kept him in their thoughts and prayers,” the family said

Further, the Kwach family announced that funeral arrangements and the memorial will be communicated in due course.

“We kindly ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral and memorial arrangements will be communicated in due course,” the statement added.

Earlier this month, Kwach was admitted to the Coptic hospital while in a critical condition.

The family called on well-wishers to donate blood to help stabilize Kwach’s condition.
