The 'Wamunyoro Team' comprises top opposition leaders including Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto has said Kenyans are aligning with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies due to their authenticity and promise of change.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 6, Wandeto said the political landscape is shifting as citizens look for an alternative voice.

“Kenyans have now started seeking for an alternative voice and Rigathi Gachagua and his team are now becoming the new face that is going to liberate this country. The reason why Kenyans are resonating with this team is because they see hope,” he said.

Wandeto highlighted the presence of veteran politicians and reformists within the group as a key factor behind its rising popularity.

“We have people like Martha Karua, a defender of justice and constitutionalism in this country. We also have people like Kalonzo Musyoka, a man who represents a voice of reasoning and balanced politics in this country. Gachagua, a truthful man who calls out things as they are,” he added.

The 'Wamunyoro Team' comprises Gachagua, Kalonzo, Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi.

Speaking during a church service in Wamunyoro on Sunday, May 4, Matiang'i promises to restore faith in the government if elected president in 2027.

“You give us this mandate, you will see how work is done. We need to clean our country and restore faith in the government so that people can trust the government again,” he said.

Additionally, Matiang'i urged Kenyans not to give up yet, noting that despite the many challenges Kenya has faced before, it has always emerged triumphant.

“Let's not lose hope in our country, and what we are going through is just a momentary situation, and let us not be tempted to turn against each other. We have had some challenges before, but we always rise again.

“This country is built on resilience. Don’t lose hope, let's unite, and we will cross that bridge and fix our challenges. We will find solutions to our challenges together," he added.
