Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir has confirmed that the fire that broke out at the Mombasa Water Supply and Sanitation Company (MOWASSCO) offices in Mombasa CBD has been contained.

In a statement on Sunday, May 11, Nassir said the fire was extinguished by a Mombasa County emergency team backed up by the Kenya Navy and Kenya Ports Authority.

“This evening, a fire broke out at the MOWASSCO offices in Mombasa’s Central Business District. Thanks to the swift response of our County Emergency Teams, backed by crucial support from the Kenya Navy and Kenya Ports Authority, the fire has been fully contained.

“Three county fire engines were on site and effectively supported by our national partners to preserve life and property,” read part of the statement.
