The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested a prime suspect believed to have gunned down Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were.
The suspect who has been identified as Isaac Kuria, alias Kush, was captured in Isebania, a town near the Kenya-Tanzania border while planning to flee the country.
Kuria is believed to have trailed the Kasipul MP on the day of the murder before cornering him at a traffic light stop along Ngong Road.
Following the murder, the suspect went to Mihango, where he disposed of the pistol he used in the assassination.
Kuria fled to Narok on a motorbike before he took a public service vehicle to go to Isebania.

The suspect booked a lodging in the border town and started communicating with a relative in Tanzania to coordinate an escape plan.
Sleuths who were monitoring communications between Kuria and other suspects already in custody, tracked and arrested him alongside another Individual in Isebania.
The two were transferred to Nairobi and are scheduled to appear at JKIA Law Courts on Monday.
The arrest of the 2 individuals brings the total number of suspects in custody in connection with the murder of Were to 12.
Among the suspects are Were’s driver and bodyguard, businessman, and politician, Phillip Aroko, and Lake Basin Development Authority Director Ebel Ochieng.
Were was fatally shot on Wednesday, April 30, while in traffic. He was rushed to Nairobi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
An autopsy conducted by Johansen Oduor, the Chief Government Pathologist, revealed that Were was shot five times, with the bullets entering from the left side of his body.
Oduor noted that the MP could not have survived the gun attack, given that integral body organs such as the heart were affected.
"We have taken samples for analysis. Further to that, we have found injuries in the vital organs. There was bullet track on the lungs, the heart, the liver, and the aorta.
"This means that the late MP could not survive the injuries caused by the gunshot,” Oduor revealed.
