KeRRA urged motorists to use the alternative route via Lemiso Road to reach their destinations.

The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has announced a traffic disruption along sections of the Ngong-Suswa road.

In a notice on Wednesday, May 14, KeRRA announced that the section between Ngere Road junction and KIBHT junction will be closed until May 20, 2025, while the stretch from Matonyok to Ngere Road Junction will remain inaccessible until June 11, 2025.

“We wish to notify the general public that the section of the Ngong–Suswa Road between Km 0+000 (Matonyok) and Km 2+600 (Junction to KIBHT) will be closed to all traffic as follows.

"Km 1+400 (Ngere Road Junction) to Km 2+600 (Junction to KIBHT): closed from 12th May 2025 to 20th May 2025. Km 0+000 (Matonyok) to Km 1+400 (Ngere Road Junction): closed from 12th May 2025 to 11th June 2025,” the notice read in part.

KeRRA noted that the closure of the road will allow contractors to carry out major construction works under constrained site conditions.

“The temporary diversions previously in place have proven inadequate and pose safety concerns, especially during rainy conditions,” KeRRA stated.

The authority urged motorists to use the alternative route via Lemiso Road – Maragara Road – Kibiko to reach their destinations.

“We urge motorists to use the alternative route via Lemiso Road – Maragara Road – Kibiko, as shown in the sketch below, and to follow guidance by traffic marshals and police,” KeRRA added.

Further, KeRRA apologizes to motorists for the inconvenience caused due to the closure of the sections.
