Gachagua launched the party on Thursday in Lavington, Nairobi.

President William Ruto’s senior adviser in the Council of Economic Advisors, Moses Kuria, has welcomed the unveiling of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s new party, the Democracy for Citizens Party.

In a statement on Thursday, May 15, Kuria says he is a firm believer of multipartyism in Kenya, adding that he participated in the scrapping of Section 2A.

“I actively participated in the fight for multi-partyism and scrapping of Section 2A. I believe in plurality in politics. As such, I fully welcome the launch of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP),” said Kuria.

The launch of DCP is currently ongoing at his headquarters along Musa Gitau Road, Lavington, Nairobi.

Speaking during the launch, Gachagua said every Kenyan will be treated equally in the new political outfit.

“I made a promise to you that in the month of May 2025 I would unveil a new political party whose philosophy resonates with you, as you all know I am a honest and truthful man I keep my word and promises; I detest lies and that is why I disagreed with the lair number one.

"We finally have a political party where every Kenyan is treated equally. Our new party is the Democracy for Citizens Party,” said Gachagua.

The former DP also noted that the party's colours are green, brown, and black, and its logo features a hand touching an ear

“Our party slogan is Skiza Wakenya, our party symbol is a listening ear. Our party colours are neon green, brown, and white,” he added.

The launch of the party comes days after Gachagua resigned from the ruling United Democratic Party (UDA).
