The trip follows a previously postponed invitation extended by Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora AffairsMusalia Mudavadi arrived in Rabat, Morocco, for a three-day official visit.

In a statement on Saturday, May 24, the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary said the visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Kenya and Morocco.

Following his arrival, Mudavadi was received in Rabat by Kenya’s Ambassador to Morocco Jessica Gakinya. 

The visit, which runs from May 25 to May 27 is expected to feature a series of bilateral consultations and strategic engagements focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries.

“H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, has arrived in Rabat, Morocco for a busy three days where he is expecting to deepen bilateral relations between Kenya and Morocco,” the statement read.

During the visit, Mudavadi is expected to engage in discussions aimed at enhancing trade relations and exploring new areas of mutual interest.

One of the key objectives of the visit is to address the trade imbalance between the two nations.

“Dr. Mudavadi will seek to push for negotiations to see Kenya improve the balance of trade, which is currently in favour of Morocco,” the statement added.

Currently, Kenya exports goods valued at approximately Ksh480 million to Morocco, including tea, coffee, textiles, fruits, and vegetables. 

In contrast, imports from Morocco stand at around Ksh12.1 billion, primarily consisting of fertilizers, oils, and aircraft parts.
