“If an MP who is entitled to security gets abducted in broad daylight, it means Kenyans are on their own.”

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi.

In a statement on Monday May 26, Kalonzo announced that the opposition will convene on Tuesday May 27 to asses political harassment and intimidation by the government.

The former Vice President noted that the safety of ordinary citizens is at risk if an MP with security can be abducted in broad daylight.

“We condemn the abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi in the strongest terms possible. The Opposition is convening tomorrow to assess the current state of political harassment and intimidation in the country by the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“If an MP who is entitled to security gets abducted in broad daylight, it means Kenyans are on their own,” Kalonzo stated.

This comes after Koimburi was found dumped at a coffee plantation in Kibichoi area, Kiambu County.

The UDA MP, who is a staunch supporter of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, had visible injuries on his body and was rushed to Plainsview Hospital for medical treatment.

On Sunday, May 25, afternoon, Koimburi was forcefully taken by unknown individuals outside the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha, Kiambu County.

The Juja MP was in the company of his wife, Anne Koimburi, when he was approached by two men who then forced him into a Subaru Forester vehicle.

The police have distanced themselves from the alleged abduction of the UDA MP but acknowledged that Koimburi has been under investigation for alleged land fraud and possible misappropriation of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
