Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed now says a section of ODM politicians currently opposing the broad-based government will eventually come around to support it.
Speaking on Sunday, June 1, during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Homa Bay County, Junet likened the broad-based government to the early days of Prophet Mohammed's efforts to spread Islam.
“When Prophet Mohamed was advancing Muslim and Islam, people joined slowly, so don’t worry, the conversion will happen slowly, it’s a matter of time, and people will be converted,” he stated.
The leader of the Minority in the National Assembly went on to say he is in support of the unity of Kenyans.
“There are three groups: No-term, one-term, and quarter-term. There are those people who served a quarter of a term, and they are making noise out there.

“I am for one Kenya. I want Kenyans to be united; to be one, and the unity of Kenyans has been manifested in the Madaraka Day Celebrations,” Junet stated.
The Suna MP’s remarks come amid infighting in the ODM party as members continue to tear into each other over the broad-based government.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has remained vocal in his opposition to the William Ruto-led government, despite the existence of a memorandum of understanding outlining a partnership between the Orange party and the ruling UDA party.
The Nairobi Senator, in a previous interview, opined that President Ruto's re-election bid in 2027 will flop even with Raila Odinga's support.
"Even if ODM supports Ruto, he will still lose. As a party, we do not support either the internal affairs or the external affairs of the way this country is being run,” said Sifuna.
Siaya Governor James Orengo and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi have also been defiant in supporting the broad-based government.
