Speaking during an interview on Monday, June 2, Nyakera detailed that one of the technical teams was tasked with assisting the opposition settle on the best candidate and running mate to challenge President William Ruto.

"The opposition has a technical working group that is focusing on the areas of the economy. There is another group working on the leadership of the coalition," he stated.

"They are not just working on the national level but on critical areas like Nairobi. For instance, we shall not have 10 candidates vying in Nairobi."

Nyakera is among those eying the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

"In Nairobi, I believe that the party I can work with is the Democracy for the Citizens (DCP). This is because it is a truthful party.

"Right now, we want the truth in Kenya and for Nairobi. We also want development for Nairobians," Nyakera stated.

Meanwhile, called out the current administration for focusing on politics rather than development.

In particular, he cited the recent Mt Kenya tour by Ruto, which was mostly dominated by politics.

At the time, Nyakera, who was serving as the board chairperson of KICC, missed the tour. Notably, his appointment was revoked by Ruto after their differences.

"I didn’t feel there was a need for me to be there. Even if I were there, I would either participate in the lies that were to be told to the people or lie myself," he expressed.

"The issue is, I said, let us talk development and not politics. That was a political tour."
