President William Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet has publicly criticized Turbo MP Janet Sitienei for skipping a fundraising event held in her constituency.
Speaking during the event on Saturday, June 14, Kibet expressed disappointment over the legislator's absence, questioning her commitment to the people who elected her.
"Why did she (Turbo MP Janet Sitienei) refuse to attend this event? Is it possible for an MP to miss an event in Kamagut? Her own constituency? Is that really possible in this country?
"People who turned up and voted are being abandoned like this; I don't agree with her actions. We are not only here to look for money, we also want to talk with our people," he said.
Despite her absence, Sitienei sent a personal donation of Ksh100,000 to support the fundraising efforts.

However, this did not appear to placate Kibet, who insisted that leadership involved more than just financial contributions.
"You should not abandon your own people because there is nowhere other people will take you; does she have other people who are better than the people of Kamagut? She should stop playing games with us. Turbo should be the first priority," he added.

Kibet insisted that local leaders should be at the forefront defending Ruto, the same he has been doing across the country.
"I have been busy defending President William Ruto outside there, and when I come back home, the area MP is not around, is that really right? The people of Turbo elected you to work for them, but here you are, looking down upon them. One day you will pay for it," he further said.
The event was graced by, among others, Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah.
Others were Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Fatuma Mohammed (Woman Rep Migori), Dorice Donya (Woman Rep Kisii), Peter Lokachapong (Sigor), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), and Amina Mnyazi (Malindi).
Fred Kapondi (Mt. Elgon), Paul Abour (MP, Rongo), Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira), Catherine Omanyo (Busia), John Bwire (Taveta), Ali Wario (Garsen), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), and Innocent Mugabe were also in attendance.
