"Some people say that the President walks with me in Kisii. Some say that I was in Kisumu cooking fish," she noted.

Mama Jerusha Muthoni, a woman who was handed over a house in the Mukuru affordable housing project by President William Ruto, has denied claims of being a prop used by the government.

Speaking during the Kenya Urban Forum in Nakuru on Tuesday, July 17, Jerusha noted that there were some Kenyans who were accusing her of being used by the government to manipulate the public.

She acknowledged that some Kenyans had even shared photos of other women met by the President across the country, claiming to be her.

According to Jerusha, those behind the photos were misleading the public, adding that she was indeed a beneficiary of the housing project.

"Some people say that the President walks with me in Kisii. Some say that I was in Kisumu cooking fish. Those are lies by people who are against this programme," she remarked.

"That is not deterring us because he said that he was going to uplift our lives through bottom-up. It is true that I have benefited because I have been brought from where I was, and I believe I will even go higher."

Additionally, she denied claims that the government took her property after the launch of the houses.

"People come to my house to see for themselves. Some people even come to the house to take photos for TikTok.

"Some even claimed that my things were taken away, and they have been coming to confirm," she stated.

After the launch of the affordable houses, photos of Mama Jerusha and the President were circulated online.

As a result, some users also shared photos of other women, claiming that the Mukuru resident was being used by the government to manipulate Kenyans.

Others also claimed that the woman was locked out of the house a day after she was handed the keys by Ruto.
