The crash claimed the lives of the four officers on the spot.

Four police officers have died following a tragic road accident along the Garissa Highway on Sunday evening, June 22. 

According to reports, six officers were travelling in a vehicle that was allegedly speeding when the driver lost control, causing the car to roll several times.  

The crash claimed the lives of four officers instantly. 

The other two officers survived but sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

This comes weeks after two police officers lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Matisi area along the Webuye–Bungoma road.

According to police reports, the duo died after the police vehicle they were traveling in collided head-on with an oncoming trailer.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:45 PM on Tuesday, June 3, and was reported to Webuye Police Station shortly after at 2:00 PM.

The deceased officers have been identified as Police Constable Sammy Ngeno, who was behind the wheel, and Sergeant Samuel Yego. 

The two were traveling in a police Ford Ranger en route from Webuye toward Bungoma when the collision occurred. 

"Due to the impact, our officers sustained multiple body injuries and died on the spot, but their two rifles are safe. Scene visited sketched, and the bodies were moved to Webuye Sub County Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy," a police statement read in part.

The impact of the crash was devastating, with the police vehicle suffering severe damage after smashing into the trailer. 

Emergency responders arrived at the scene but were unable to save the officers.

The bodies of the deceased officers have been taken to the Webuye County Hospital mortuary.
