Former Chief Justice David Maraga has flagged a viral quote attributed to him regarding his agreement with President William Ruto over opposition leaders.
On Monday, June 23, Maraga stated that the quote was fake, as he had not made the comments.
The fake post had alleged that Maraga had shared similar sentiments with Ruto over not handing over power to the opposition.
The former CJ, therefore, called on Kenyans to be cautious of people who were keen on misinforming Kenyans through fake quotes.
"Let’s fight misinformation as we continue focusing on #June25thNationalHoliday," he wrote on his X page.

Notably, the quote emerged after Ruto expressed that he would not hand over power to people without a plan.
“These other people (opposition) have no plan, don’t waste time on them. We will not hand over power to people who have no plan,” Ruto stated.
Maraga is one of the leaders who are contesting for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.
On Wednesday, June 18, the former CJ announced that he had consulted widely and decided to challenge Ruto in the next election.
“After discussion with friends and after serious reflection, I thought it was time we thought about the leadership of this country. We can not let some people take our country to doomsday literally," Maraga announced.
“As a result of that reflection, I have made up my mind that I will run for the presidency of this country in 2027."
The former CJ is yet to announce whether he will be joining the opposition leaders to form a coalition.
Those in the opposition who are eying the president include Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i is also part of the opposition team and recently returned to the country to begin preparations for his State House bid.
