A female police officer was injured on Wednesday, June 25, during chaotic scenes in Nairobi’s CBD as anti-government protests intensified.
According to footage seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the officer was part of a contingent of riot police attempting to retreat to their vehicles amid a surge of aggressive protesters.
As the group pulled back, the female officer found herself isolated and in the path of the advancing crowd.
The situation escalated quickly when the officer, in an apparent attempt to evade the protesters, tripped and fell after reportedly being struck by one of them.
While on the ground, another protester was captured on video assaulting her with what appeared to be a stone, while others stomped on her before fleeing the scene.

Emergency services responded promptly, and the injured officer was rushed to an ambulance where she received first aid.
In a separate incident during the same demonstrations, a protester sustained serious injuries after a tear gas canister reportedly exploded in his hand.
The young man was reportedly attempting to hurl the canister back at the police before it detonated.
He was later seen being transported to a hospital on a boda boda by fellow demonstrators.
Medical professionals have since issued a stern warning against such actions.
“Do not handle tear gas canisters by trying to throw them back at police. They can explode in your hands, leading to severe injuries or even amputation. Be peaceful and unarmed even as you exercise your constitutional rights," a medic warned.
Kenyans on Wednesday took to the streets in numbers to remember the victims who died during the June 25, 2024, protests.
In Nairobi, thousands of protestors congregated in the Nairobi CBD in honour of the victims of police brutality.
The police officers, however, lobbed tear gas at the demonstrators to disperse them as the protests gained momentum.
The officers also barricaded major roads leading to the Nairobi CBD, forcing members of the public to walk.
Parliament Road and State House Road have been fenced with razor-sharp barbed wire to block protestors.
Former Chief Justice David Maraga, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino joined the protestors in the CBD.
