President William Ruto has called on Kenyans to maintain law and order even as they take to the streets to demand justice and remember those who lost their lives last year.
Speaking in Kilifi County on Wednesday, June 25, the President stated that the demonstrators had a right to take to the streets to express their displeasure.
However, he cautioned against vandalism and violence in the protests.
"I want to ask those who have divergent opinions, as they demonstrate, let them ensure that the demos are not violent. They should not be there to destroy property and peace in our country.
"We do not have another country to go to if things go wrong here," Ruto stated.

On his part, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga urged the Ruto regime to compensate families of those who were killed and injured in the 2024 and 2024 protests.
He opined that such a move would help the country heal and move forward.
"I have already told the government that we want all these things to end. I said it the other day, there are people who were killed in 2023 and 2024 during Gen Z protests. For us to end all this and start afresh, we are saying that the families should be compensated.
"Those in the hospital should be given money for their medication. Let us all start afresh and move together as a country," Raila added.
Kenyans took to the streets in various parts of the country to demand justice for those who were killed in the 2024 protests.
The protests in Nairobi CBD turned chaotic as police clashed with the demonstrators.
This resulted in the use of tear gas to disperse the growing groups.
