Citizen TV has dismissed reports that have emerged online regarding the firing of Royal Media Services (RMS) Group Editorial Director Linus Kaikai.

The station, on Wednesday, June 26, through a statement on X, flagged a fake poster that had announced the firing of Kaikai.

The authors of the fake poster had used Citizen Digital's branding to mislead the public.

It had been alleged that Kaikai was fired because of the protests.

"Treat this fake news with the contempt it deserves," Citizen TV clarified in a post.

Kaikai is currently the group editorial director of the leading media company that also covered the June 25 protests across the country.

Citizen TV was among the media outlets that were targeted by the government following the live coverage of the protests.

This was after the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) ordered all media houses to cease coverage of the protests, citing various constitutional violations.

According to CA, the coverage was inciteful.

"The live coverage of the June 25th, 2025, demonstrations are contrary to Articles 33(2) and 34(1) of the Constitution of Kenya and Section 461 of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998," read the letter to the media houses.

However, the Law Society of Kenya challenged the order in court, and the government body was ordered to turn back on the signals of stations that had been switched off.
