Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria has cautioned Kenyans against purchasing items that were stolen by thieves during the Wednesday protests.
Speaking on Thursday, June 26, Mosiria stated that many items were stolen in shops by goons who took advantage of the protests.
Some of the business individuals are reported to have lost electronics such as phones and laptops, and clothing items.
Therefore, residents were advised to exercise due diligence when buying items from individuals in the coming days.

"Those who stole the items need to return them. I want to ask Nairobi residents, if someone comes to sell gas to you, ask them where they got that cylinder.
"If they bring a computer and phone to you, ask them where they found the items. Return those items. If two or three people are found, then it will be easy to track the items," he stated.
Meanwhile, Mosiria condemned the individuals who stole the items from the shops, adding that many people had been affected.
"These shop owners are parents too. They will return home to children waiting for a meal that will never come tonight. What do we say to that child who doesn’t understand why dad or mum came home empty-handed?" he posed.
"To those who took advantage of the peaceful Gen Z demonstrations to destroy and loot, know this: your actions have caused real pain to innocent people. And while justice will surely catch up with you, may your conscience speak louder before the law does."
Additionally, Mosiria indicated that some individuals also damaged county government property and stole items made of steel.
Therefore, those in the scrap metal business were encouraged to exercise extra caution.
