The company has urged all affected customers to plan ahead to avoid being caught off guard by the downtime.
“To avoid any inconvenience, customers are advised to purchase tokens before the scheduled maintenance time,” Kenya Power advised.
This comes barely a month after Kenya Power announced an emergency system maintenance that effected key customer services including the purchase of tokens.
On Friday, May 30, the utility company conducted the maintenance exercise between 10:30PM and 12:30AM.
“We would like to inform our valued customers that we will carry out emergency system maintenance on Friday evening, 30th May 2025, from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM. This is necessary to enhance the stability and reliability of our services," their statement read at the time.
The services that were unavailable included prepaid token purchases, bill payments, and self-service platforms such as USSD code *977# and the MyPower App.
Kenya Power acknowledged the inconvenience the disruption caused, but reassured customers that the move is essential for improving system performance.
