Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has revealed that many of the KCSE 2024 candidates applied to join Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC).
Speaking on Tuesday, July 1, the CS detailed that there was a high demand for courses in nursing. This included the courses in Diplomas and Certificates.
Additionally, most of the KMTC applications were witnessed in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Medical Emergency Technician, and Community Health.
"With a cumulative of 2,986, Diploma and Certificate in Nursing attracted the highest number of applicants at 27,000. This is an indication that the demand for nursing continues to grow," the CS announced.

According to the CS, out of the available 34,048 KMTC slots, there were 52,725 applications.
Notably, some of the candidates who applied for the KMTC courses had attained a mean grade of C+ and above, which qualified them for university degree courses.
"In total, 25,034 students have been placed in KMTC programmes. This includes 750 who scored C+ and above in KCSE examinations," he added.
Meanwhile, the application for KMTC's September intake is still ongoing until July 7.
How to Check Placement Results
Following the release of placement results, students can check their results on the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal.
"The 2025 Placement Results are out! Check your placement now by visiting http://students.kuccps.net," the placement body advised.
