Wetang'ula directed the MP to leave the house and change his attire.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino was ordered to leave the National Assembly over his dressing.

Speaker Moses Wetang'ula ruled that the MP was improperly dressed during the afternoon sittings of Tuesday, July 1.

This was in response to a point of order that was raised by Mathare MP Antony Oluoch, who stated that the MP was dressed in a barrister band (collar lawyers wear in court), contrary to the standing orders.

Oluoch added that the MP was almost dressed as the Speaker, causing confusion in the house.

"Is it in order for the MP to walk and sit in the house, dressed and sit like the speaker, save for your gown? We do need guidance on whether this forms part of the dressing code of this house," Oluoch stated.

In response, Wetang'ula directed the MP to leave the house and change his attire.

"You are improperly dressed. Even your very seniors like Millie Odhiambo, Otiendo Amollo have never turned up dressed like that," the Speaker ruled.

"I order you to retreat from the house, dress up, and come back."

Babu was in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon after representing petitioners who had gone to court over missing blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia.

The MP was recently admitted to the bar after finishing his studies at the Kenya School of Law.

"Today at Milimani High Court, I appeared before Justice Chacha Mwita to make an application for Habeas Corpus of Ndiangui Kinyagia, who was abducted by the DCI," the MP wrote on his X page.

"The Judge ordered the DCI Director to appear before him on Thursday at 11 am."
