The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a service disruption following a maintenance exercise.

In a notice shared on Saturday, July 12, the authority stated that the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) will undergo maintenance on Sunday, July 13, 2025, between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

The maintenance will last six hours and affect all iCMS users. During this time, the system will be unavailable.

"Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted," KRA said in the notice posted on its official platform.

The temporary disruption comes days after KRA announced it had surpassed its revenue collection target for the 2024/25 financial year, collecting Ksh.2.571 trillion against a target of Ksh.2.555 trillion, a 6.8 per cent growth.

KRA Commissioner General attributed the improved performance to enhanced digital strategies, including the use of Artificial Intelligence in cargo scanning and the simplification of processes such as VAT return filing.

The implementation of a Centralized Release Office (CRO) also helped reduce average cargo clearance time from 110 hours to 43 hours, contributing to higher revenue and operational efficiency.

"The changes provided more personalized support to address taxpayers’ unique needs. The functional areas have also supported tax base expansion in alignment with the Medium-Term Revenue Strategy,” the commissioner's statement read in part.

Among the changes made included integration of the Large and Medium Taxpayers into a core functional area, and the Micro and Small Taxpayers as another core functional area.

In recent months, KRA has focused on restructuring its digital infrastructure to support real-time decision-making, system automation, and streamlined taxpayer engagement.
