Kenya Power has announced that parts of five counties, including Nyeri, will experience planned power outages on Monday.

Kenya Power has announced that parts of five counties will experience planned power outages on Monday, September 1.

In a statement on Sunday, August 31, the company explained that the outages are meant to allow for routine maintenance works.

In Bomet County, the outage will affect Sotik and its environs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The areas to be covered include Sotik Town, Evergreen Tea Factory, Manaret Green Resource, Sotik Water, KCC Sotik, Sotik Tea Factory and Giftmatt Sotik.

Kaplong Market, Ndanai Market, Tembwo, Chebilat Market, Soimet, Kapletundo, Kamureito, Chebole, Kanusin, Galaxy, Kapkures and adjacent customers will also be affected.

In Nyamira County, power will be interrupted between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Nyamira Town, Nyamaiya and Kebirigo. 

The outage will affect the whole of Nyamira Town, Referral Hospital, Kinara Hospital, Rangenyo Mission, Nyamaiya Market, Miruka Market, Kebirigo Tea Factory, Sang’anyi Tea Factory, Sironga Girls, Marindi, Makairo Market, Kiabonyou and adjacent customers.

Nyeri County will also be affected, with outages scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Ring Road, Kamakwa and Kandara. 

Areas listed include Kamakwa, Kandara, part of Ring Road, Kamakwa Nyewasco, Kamakwa Water Works, Baraka Estate, Muga Academy, Kamuyu Coffee Factory, Nyawira, Kanoga, White House, Mwonjoria, Mt. Kenya Primary School, Gitathiini and adjacent customers.

In Laikipia County, the planned interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., covering Muthaiga Estate, Fair Mount Safari Club and surrounding areas. 

Specifically affected will be Kanyoni Estate, Fair Mount Safari Club, 1KR, Baraka Estate, Sweet Waters, Mirera, Marura, Njoguini, Ichuga, Kwa Mwea, Old House Hotel, Tha Nickolee Hotel and adjacent customers.

In Kwale County, the maintenance exercise will see Meli Kubwa Town, Mackinon Town and their surroundings go without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
