The president revoked existing appointments to name the new appointees.

President William Ruto has sanctioned a host of fresh appointments in government.

In a gazette notice published on Friday, July 25, the president made three major appointments, with the appointees getting at least three years to serve in their new capacities.

Ruto appointed Kenya Red Cross secretary general Abbas Gullet to the board of directors at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

He would serve as the nonexecutive chairman for three years.

The president revoked the appointment of Samier Muravvej to pave the way for Gullet.

"I appoint Abbas Gullet to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Kenyatta National Hospital for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 25th July, 2025. The appointment of Samier Muravvej is revoked," read the president's notice.

The president moved Muravvej to the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council, where he will serve in the same capacity as the nonexecutive directors' board chairman for three years.

Elsewhere, Ruto appointed a new nonexecutive board chairman for the Kenya National Public Health Institute, revoking the appointment of David Ndegwa Nyokabi.

The president appointed Paul Ndung'u Kariuki as the new chairman.

"I appoint Paul Kariuki to be the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya National Public Health Institute for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 25th of July 2025," read Ruto's notice.

At the same time, the president revoked the appointment of Dr. Stanley Khainga at the helm of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

He replaced him with Fredrick Were, who will be the new chairperson for the next three years.

"I appoint Fredrick Namenya Were to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 25th July, 2025," the notice read.
