Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Monday welcomed Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen to the county during the ongoing Jukwa la Usalama tour.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Monday, July 28, welcomed Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to the county during the ongoing Jukwa la Usalama tour.

The duo met at the Governor's office in Kitale where they discussed pressing issues affecting the county, including land grabbing.

"Today, I welcomed the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, who paid a courtesy call to my office during his ‘Jukwa la Usalama’ tour in Trans Nzoia County,” Natembeya said in a statement.

During their discussions, the two leaders emphasized the need for unity in resolving long-standing land issues, and other challenges such as security and development.

"Our discussions focused on key regional issues, including the persistent problem of land grabbing.

"We agreed on the need for stronger collaboration between national and county governments to tackle such challenges head on and to promote peace, security, and sustainable development for the people of Trans Nzoia,” the governor added.

Murkomen arrived in Kitale on Monday morning accompanied by senior government officials including DIG-APS Gilbert Masengeli, Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati and Regional Administration Police Commander John Amadadi.

Following his arrival, he met with the county security team and proceeded to a town hall meeting with members of the public and local leaders.

"We will meet with the county security team and thereafter assess registration services at the ACC Central Division, Saboti Sub-County.

"We will then proceed to a Town hall meeting with members of the public, local leaders, NGAOs and security personnel at the County Commissioner's residence," the CS said in an update.

At ACC Central Division, Murkomen assessed the civil and mobile ID registrations, and announced plants to deploy portable Live Capture Unit machines to remote areas.

"I assessed the civil and mobile ID registrations at the ACC Central Division, Saboti Sub-County grounds this morning. I witnessed long lines of first-time ID card applicants who were eager to register for the vital document.

"To reach more unregistered people, we are soon deploying the portable battery-powered Live Capture Unit machines to the grassroots," he said.
