Kenya Power has issued a notice announcing power interruptions across 11 counties on Tuesday, July 29.

In a statement on Monday, July 28, the company said the outages will affect Nairobi, Machakos, Kericho, Nandi, Kakamega, Migori, Mombasa, Kilifi, Nyeri, Embu and Murang’a counties.

In Nairobi County, the planned outage will affect multiple neighborhoods, including Kibera where areas such as Hazina Co-op Credit Sacco, Sudan Embassy, Kabarnet Gardens, parts of Kabarnet Road and Kibera Drive and 9 Planets Estate will be impacted.

Huduma Center, DC’s Office, Makina B, Makongeni, Kisumu Ndogo, Kibera Law Courts, Jamia Mosque, Kichinjio, Lindi, Laini Saba, Mashimoni Primary, Kambi Muru, Sunday Studio, and surrounding customers will also be affected.

In Kikuyu Road and Dagoretti, affected locations include Dagoretti Market, Dagoretti Children’s Home, Dagoretti Centre, Shell, Gachui, Kirigu Primary, Pathenios, Waithaka Shopping Centre, Quick Mart, Gitiba Makaburini, Ruthimitu Mixed and Girls Secondary Schools, Wakorino Stage, and adjacent areas.

 In the Jacaranda area, parts of Donholm Phase 8, Shell Petrol Station, Greenspan Mall, Happy Land School, Greenspan Estate, and nearby customers will experience interruptions.

In Machakos County, Katani will be impacted, affecting Kenya Builders, RK Sanghani, H-young, Katani Primary, Katani Resort, S.S Mehta, and Ngelani.

In the Rift Valley region, Kericho County will see power outages in areas including Laliat Quarry, Toror and Taiwet Tea Factories, Ainamoi Sub-District Hospital, Chepisom Market, Ketitui Market, Ainamoi Market, and Ogirgir. 

In Nandi County, power interruptions will hit Kapsabet Town, Namgoi, Kapsasur, Ndurio, Kobujoi, and adjacent areas.

In Western Kenya, Kakamega County’s Mumias Town will have a full-day outage impacting Mumias Mission Hospital, St. Peters, St. Mary’s, Mumias Water, Bulanda and Bumia villages.

In Migori County, the areas of Okenge, Macalder, and Osiri will also face power cuts. 

Specifically affected will be the entire Okenge area, parts of Osiri Market, Macalder Polytechnic, and Okenge High School.

In Mombasa County, the Tudor area including the Technical University of Mombasa, Rasini Road, Tom Mboya Road, Zulpha Apartments, Tudor Nora, and Zambezi Avenue will be affected. 

In Kilifi County, parts of Mwango, Mtondia, Tezo, and Chumani will experience power loss.

In Nyeri County, areas in Mukurweini and Ichamara including Ichamara Market, Kimondo, Kihuti, Kiangondu, Thangathi, Kiuu, Ujamaa, and Mbugua markets will be affected. 

In Embu County, power cuts will hit Gitaru, Kindaruma, and Kiambere. 

Affected areas include Gitaru Senior Camp, Kindaruma Lower Camp, Kenyatta Camp, Kiambere Kengen Camps, Water Meyer, Kiambere Complex, Katothya, Kavui, Ngiiri, Gwakarigu, Mutuobare Market and Safaricom, Karura, Rutumbi, Gatete, and Cieria. 

In Murang’a County, residents in Bluepost, Shadenet, and Enkasiti areas will be impacted, including Bluepost Hotel, Shadnet Ltd, Memorial School, Bahati Ridge Estate, Thika Coffee Mills, Hannah Roses, Enkashiti Flowers, Simbi Roses, Ona Seedlings, Kiriga Coffee Factory, and parts of Ngoigwa Estate and Maporomoko.
