Kenya Power has issued a warning over individuals impersonating the company’s Managing Director and CEO, Joseph Siror.
In a statement on Friday, August 1, the company urged members of the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious encounters.
"We wish to alert the public and our esteemed customers of fraudulent individuals impersonating our Managing Director & CEO, Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Siror, while soliciting for bribes and other illegal favours," the statement read.
Kenya Power reiterated its firm stance against corruption and fraud, noting that all transactions with Kenya Power must go through official channels.
"Kenya Power has zero tolerance on bribery, fraud and any other unethical conduct. All payments for electricity services should be made through authorised channels (mobile money, banks and Kenya Power banking halls) and receipts obtained for the same," the statement added.

Kenya Power has advised customers to confirm the identity of anyone claiming to be a Kenya Power employee before engaging further.
"Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or impersonation attempts immediately to the police or any nearest Kenya Power office. Additionally, they should authenticate persons presenting themselves as Kenya Power staff by dialling *977#," the statement concluded.
This comes over a month after the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has issued a warning over an individual falsely claiming to be the company’s Managing Director and CEO.
In a statement on Friday, June 20, KETRACO said the contacts that the impersonator has been presenting to unsuspecting members of the public are not associated with the company's CEO.
"It has come to our attention that an individual is using the mobile number 0735982112, landline number 0202717001, and email [email protected] has been falsely presenting themselves as the MD and CEO of KETRACO. These contacts do not belong to our MD & CEO or KETRACO. We believe this misrepresentation is for malicious purposes," the company said.
KETRACO urged the public to be cautious when interacting with individuals purporting to represent the corporation.
"We strongly advise the public to exercise extreme caution and be vigilant against such fraudulent schemes. KETRACO will not be held responsible for any losses or damages incurred due to engaging with individuals who misrepresent themselves as our officials," the statement read.
