Five people have been killed after being involved in a road accident in the Mbaruk area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The gruesome accident occurred on Monday, August 4, evening at around 6:30 PM and involved three vehicles.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a Toyota Fielder carrying five occupants was overtaking when it collided head-on with a saloon car.

Following the impact, the Toyota Fielder lost control and rammed into a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.

All five occupants in the vehicle, who included two men and two women, and a child, died on the spot.

Photos of the accident seen by nairobileo.co.ke showed the Toyota Fielder extensively damaged and on fire, while the saloon car was damaged on the rear.

This comes weeks after two people died and several others were injured after a grisly road accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The collision occurred at the Ngata area in Nakuru County, involving a 14-seater matatu and a trailer loaded with logs.

The trailer lost control and rammed into the matatu, causing a devastating crash that left passengers trapped beneath the wreckage.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nakuru City Mortuary, while 10 other passengers who sustained injuries were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
