Several people are feared dead and others injured after a truck rammed into boda boda riders and vendors at the Daraja Mbili market in Kisii County.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, August 6 morning after a truck lost control, veered off the road, and rammed into the crowded market area.

Preliminary reports indicate the truck experienced brake failure while descending from Kisii town towards the Daraja Mbili market.

The truck also crashed into a Toyota Probox vehicle and a tuk-tuk in the busy market.

Traders and boda boda riders at the busy roadside market were caught up in the accident.

Emergency responders from the Kisii County government were deployed to the scene to provide first aid and take the injured to the hospital for treatment.

This comes a day after people have been killed after being involved in a road accident in the Mbaruk area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The accident occurred on Monday, August 4, evening at around 6:30 PM and involved three vehicles.

A Toyota Fielder carrying five occupants was overtaking when it collided head-on with a saloon car.

Following the impact, the vehicle lost control and rammed into a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.

All five occupants in the vehicle, who included two men and two women, and a child, died on the spot.

Photos of the accident seen by nairobileo.co.ke showed the Toyota Fielder extensively damaged and on fire, while the saloon car was damaged on the rear.
