The High Court in Nanyuki has found a woman guilty of murdering her boyfriend in a fatal domestic violence incident that occurred in July 2020 in Laikipia County.
In a statement released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Wednesday, August 6, the court convicted Faith Kanoria Mwebia for the murder of Daniel Mwaniki Miano, following a full trial that lasted several months.
The case, prosecuted by Counsel Jackson Motende and Esther Kimani, revealed chilling details of the events that led to Miano’s death.
According to evidence presented in court, the two were involved in a violent confrontation on the night of July 5, 2020, at Likii area in Laikipia County.
During the quarrel, Mwebia physically attacked Miano and issued threats to kill him.

Hours after the altercation, Miano was discovered lying by the roadside with a fatal stab wound to the abdomen and succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The prosecution presented a case, calling ten witnesses whose testimonies painted a clear picture of the events leading up to the murder. The court found the evidence compelling and conclusive.
Delivering the verdict, Justice Ndung’u ruled that the prosecution had proved the charge of murder beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 2, 2025.
In another ruling this week, a Kisumu court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for defiling a 4-year-old child on January 6, 2025, at Sega Sega area in Kisumu Central within Kisumu County.
The evidence revealed that the accused asked the complainant to follow him into his house on the day in question. Upon her arrival, he forced her to remove her undergarments and went on to sexually assault her.
Upon proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused was guilty, the court sentenced him to life in prison.
