Olwero was gunned down outside his Whitehouse Resort in Seme in the early hours of Monday, August 18.

"Devastated by the tragic loss of Felix Olwero, former Siaya County Assembly Clerk and husband to our CECM for Sports, Madam Angeline Oduor, who was brutally shot dead this morning under unclear circumstances.
"We condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms and demand swift, thorough investigations to ensure justice is served. No life should ever be cut short in such a senseless manner," he said.

Orengo further disclosed that the accident also left several other county staff members injured, including the Chief Officer for Education, Richard Ogeda, and Easter Okello of the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB).
The governor conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and well wishes to the injured.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to George’s family and pray that they find strength and comfort during this painful time.
