In the afternoon, showers are likely to occur over several places, while nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though showers may occur over a few places.
The Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will, on the other hand, experience scattered morning rains. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected in several areas, followed by isolated night showers.
The weatherman also predicted that intermittent cold and cloudy conditions will be experienced over parts of the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the South-eastern Lowlands, and the Rift Valley.
According to the Met Department, daytime average temperatures of above 30°C are expected across much of North-eastern Kenya.
Parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and near Mt. Kilimanjaro will, on the other hand, experience minimum night temperatures of below 10°C.
Further, the weatherman warned that strong southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots are expected over the coastal region this week.
The strong winds will also be experienced in the South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya regions.
“Strong Winds: Southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) are expected over the Coast (including Kenya’s territorial waters), South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya,” the Met Department stated.
The weather forecast comes days after the Met Department issued an advisory warning of heavy rainfall across 33 counties from Sunday, August 17, through to Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
In a notice on Friday, August 15, the weatherman noted that rainfall across parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley is projected to intensify, reaching more than 20mm in 24 hours before spreading to the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.
The department also cautioned residents in the listed regions to be vigilant against possible flash floods, particularly in low-lying areas.
“Residents in all the mentioned areas are advised to be on the lookout for potential flash floods, especially in low-lying areas. Avoid driving through flooded roads as water may appear shallow even though it may not be entirely safe,” the notice stated.
