Kenya Power has announced that sections of Kisumu County will experience power interruptions on Friday, August 29.

In a notice on Thursday, August 28, the company said the interruptions which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. are meant to facilitate scheduled maintenance.

Areas to be affected include Homalime Factory, Koru Center, Chesigot, Gilrimori, Kunyak Dispenser, and nearby customers.

Elsewhere, Kenya Power explained how users can retrieve their last three purchased prepaid tokens in case they accidentally delete the SMS or are unsure if they entered the token correctly.

The company reminded customers that this existing service can be accessed by dialing *977#, selecting Option 1 for Prepaid Services, choosing 'Latest Tokens,' and entering the meter number.

Kenya Power emphasized that this feature is especially helpful for households where multiple members may need access to token information.

The utility also highlighted another way for customers to ensure billing accuracy: by sending a clear picture of their meter reading to the official WhatsApp number, 0702 977 977, a 15-digit reference code is generated, and the company handles the rest.

Kenya Power noted that physical verification on-site may be arranged if necessary.

On interruptions, the company explained that users can quickly report interruptions using their phones, ensuring that outages are pinpointed accurately and resolved efficiently.

To report an outage, customers should dial *977# and select 'Report Incidents,' then choose Option 1: 'Report Outages.'

Prepaid users enter their meter number, while postpaid users enter their account number; a reference number is generated, which should be saved or screenshotted to track the report.
