Super Metro has issued a statement on the tragic accident that occurred on Monday, September 1, involving one of its buses along Thika Road.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 2, the company said the accident occurred as the bus was traveling downhill behind a tuk-tuk that attempted to change lanes.
"Super Metro Limited deeply regrets to confirm a tragic accident that occurred on September 1, 2025, involving one of our buses, registration number KCZ358N, along Juja.
"While traveling downhill, the bus was following a tuk-tuk that attempted to change lanes. A motorbike rider, overtaking at high speed, swerved to avoid the tuk-tuk, struck a pavement, and fell. Tragically, the rider was fatally injured by the bus and passed away at the scene," the statement read.
The company confirmed that officers from Juja Police Station are investigating the incident, and pledged full cooperation.

"The incident is under active investigation by the Juja Police Station. Super Metro is fully cooperating with the authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent inquiry. For further details, please contact the Juja Police Station directly," the statement added.
Super Metro also extended condolences to the family of the deceased while reaffirming its commitment to road safety and compliance.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this profoundly difficult time. Super Metro remains steadfast in its commitment to road safety, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and full support for the ongoing investigation," the statement concluded.
On Monday, tension flared along Thika Road near Juja Town after the matatu was set ablaze following the fatal accident.
According to images from the scene, flames and thick black smoke billowed from the matatu as the fire consumed its shell.
The tragic accident came months after several people sustained injuries after a bus operated by Super Metro overturned in Juja.
In a statement on Tuesday, June 10, the bus company detailed that the lorry that collided with the bus was swerving along the road at a high speed.
In the process, the lorry hit the Super Metro bus that was ferrying passengers; no fatalities were reported during the morning accident, however, two people sustained injuries.
"Super Metro Limited regrets to confirm that one of our buses was involved in a road incident this morning along Juja Road, involving a collision with a lorry. Preliminary reports indicate that the lorry was swerving at high speed before colliding with our bus," the statement read.
Super Metro also assured its passengers that it prioritizes safety standards, adding that the matter would be resolved conclusively.
"Super Metro Limited remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of transport responsibility, prioritizing the safety and well-being of our passengers and the public.
"We are committed to resolving this matter and will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities," the statement added.
