The National Police Service (NPS) has announced traffic disruptions along Thika Superhighway and its connecting routes on Friday, September 5, starting at 6AM.
In a public notice, NPS said the temporary road closures and diversions are due to the FIFA World Cup qualifiers match between Kenya and Gambia.
Motorists traveling between Nairobi CBD and Thika, Ruiru, or Juja have been advised to use Kiambu Road at Exit 4; a roadblock will be mounted at Muthaiga.
For those heading from Thika Road towards Mwiki, the recommended diversion is through Ruaka, Baba Dogo, Lucky Summer, and the Nairobi River to Mwiki.
Drivers from Thika, Juja, and Ruiru heading into Nairobi CBD will be required to use the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road; there will be a roadblock at the Ruiru interchange.

Additionally, access to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, will be restricted to vehicles with valid passes.
Other motorists are instructed to use the service lanes at Exit 7 and Exit 8.
"The National Police Service continues to work collaboratively with relevant agencies and urges all motorists to cooperate with officers on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow.
"Additional police officers have been deployed and will take stern action against anyone violating traffic rules," the notice read.

Kenya and Gambia will face off at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Friday at 4 PM.
This comes a day after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) issued a scam alert warning fans against purchasing tickets for the upcoming Harambee Stars World Cup qualifiers from fake websites.
In a notice on Wednesday, September 3, FKF revealed that a fraudulent platform had been set up, complete with a fake M-PESA paybill account, purporting to sell tickets for Kenya’s matches against Gambia and Seychelles.
The federation cautioned fans against making any purchases through the website, noting that the only genuine platforms for buying tickets are through the official ticketing partner, Tikiti, via https://www.tikiti.co.ke or by dialing *519*55#.
Tickets for the Kenya vs Gambia game slated for Friday, September 5, at 4:00 PM can be accessed at https://tikiti.co.ke/e/kenya-vs-gambia.
