Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions across several parts of Nyeri, Murang’a, Meru, West Pokot, and Siaya counties on Monday, September 8.
In a statement on Sunday, September 7, the company said the power outages are meant to allow routine maintenance.
In Nyeri County, the outage will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will affect Sagana Falls Power Station, Ihigaini Primary, Kaigonde, Mung’aria C/Fact, Kangubiri Girls, parts of Muthinga and Gititu Dispensary.
Nyaithee C/Fact, Aguthi Secondary, Muthoka’s Place, Culvert, Gathungo Primary, Ithekahuno Market, Karo Primary, Thageini, Maingirano, Kiaraho and adjacent customers will also be affected.
In Murang’a County, two areas will be affected. Power will be off in Kagaa and Cornstar Millers areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., impacting Kagaa Getune Primary, Elephant Hotel, Cornstar Millers, Kagaa Secondary, Running Twist, Eng. Ngokonyo, By Grace Academy and nearby customers.

During the same hours, Gacharage and Mununga areas will also face interruptions, covering Gaturumo, Gacharage T/Fact, Mununga Market, Boro, Mukoma, Gikigie, Kinyona, Rugongo Ruraya, Hilton, Mucagatha, Githae and adjacent customers.
In Meru County, power will be off from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Igoji, Kinoro, and Kathigu areas.
Affected places include Igoji Teachers Training College, Igoji Mission Hospital, Kinoro T/Fact, Kinoro Market, Miruriri Secondary School, Igoji Market, Nkugwe Village, Kuiri C/Fact, Rigiri C/Fact, Geeto Primary, Kiune Primary School and Rai C/Fact.
Gatangungi Market, Kaira Market, Moaa TBC, Kathigu Market, Mworoga, Kiriti C/Fact, Pioneer Education Centre, PCEA Mbuti Church, KARI Centre, Kathigiri Primary School, Plot 10, Gikurune Boys, Igoji Boys, Rwarene Primary School, Mweru Market, Kithioko and surrounding areas will also be affected.
In West Pokot County, Chepnyal and its environs will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Kapombo, Chepkopegh, Tamugh, and Chepnyal areas.
In Siaya County, power will go off in Boro between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., affecting Malaha School, Mbaga Mission, Bishop Okoth Girls and adjacent customers.
