Kenya Power has announced scheduled power outages across 11 counties on Tuesday, September 9, to allow for essential maintainance works.
In a statement on Monday, September 8, the company said the interruptions will affect several areas in Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, Kakamega, Kisii, Migori, Nyeri, Embu, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa counties.
In Nakuru County, the outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will affect Elementaita, Kongasis, Oljorai, Kiambogo, Munanda, Tangi Tano, Kiptangwany, Jogoo, Miti Mingi, Kianjoya, Sururu, Mau Narok, Mwisho wa Lami, Likia, Mauche, Kapyemit, Fontana, Charvi, Gatimu, and surrounding areas.
Uasin Gishu County will experience interruptions in Assururiet and Mkombozi between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including Chebarus Kesses, Moi University Water Intake, Ngeny, Ongatet, and nearby customers. Chepkanga and its environs will also be affected from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Vihiga County, parts of Mbale Town will be without electricity from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Broad Park Hotel, Hamisi Hotel, and sections of Chavakali Market among the areas listed.

Kakamega County will see a blackout in Ingotse from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., covering Lutaso, Makunga, and adjacent customers.
Meanwhile, Kisii County’s Ogembo area will also be without power between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting Ogembo Law Courts, Ogembo Market, Egetuki, Nyabisiongoroi, Mangera Primary School, and nearby regions.
In Migori County, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Namba Kodero, Nyandema, Nyandago, Bande, Kanga Onditi, Amoyo, Aonge Dhiang’, Aneko, Winyo, Got Kachola, Sota, Rabwao, Lisori, Muhuru Bay, and neighboring areas.
Nyeri County will have one of the longest scheduled outages, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., covering Ndima-Ini, Kirimara, and surrounding areas, including Kiangogoyo, Karindundu Coffee Factory, Kiahiti, Kirimara High School, Iuruma, Muchohi Village, Mutoi Village, Ndima-Ini Market, Kahuta-Ini, Njororoma, and Safaricom and Airtel boosters.
In Embu County, maintenance will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Kiritiri, Kirima, Rwethe, Munyori, Kamunyange, Kianjiru Telecommunication Hub, Karambari, Gangara, Kathanje, Mayori and Karimari.
Ciambingu, Igumori, Ntharawe, Kirathe, Ciorindagwa, Kabuguri, Karie, Rurie, Newsite, Kiambere, Kariguri Safaricom, Gacabari, Mukororia, Kianjogu, Kandomba, and adjacent customers will also be affected.
Kilifi County’s Watamu area will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Temple Point, Dongokundu, Watamu Hospital, Turtle Bay, Pili Pan, Captain Andy, Hemmingways, Medina Palms, Kika House, and nearby premises listed.
In Kwale County, the blackout will cover Msambweni and Shimoni areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including Mwaembe, Munje, Bomani, Milalani, Kiscol Ramisi, Shimoni Town, Shimba Hills, Katangini, Kikoneni, Mamba, and Bengo.
Mombasa County will also face widespread interruptions on Tuesday. Parts of Changamwe, including Kenya Meat, MICD, Mitchell Cotts, Awale, Total Changamwe, Kipevu, and Miracle Park Kibarani, will be off-grid from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tangana Road and Machakos Street will also be affected during the same hours, covering Uhuru Gardens, Best Electronics Mall, Red Cross Mombasa, Nairobi University Mombasa, AAR Healthcare, FIDA Kenya, Chloride Exide, Auto Express, Toyota Kenya, CFAO Mombasa, and Dakika Motors.
In addition, Shelly Beach Road will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Cooperative Bank, Kenya Power Office, Lakers, Dudus, Majengo Mapya, Musdhalifa, Muhajirina, Pungu Villas, Senti Kumi, Simba Villas, Maji Safi, Jet Bar, Kwetu Beach, Mwahima Secondary School, Shelly Beach Police, Vanga, Brazil, Swabrina, Millennium 2, and Father Mroki.
