Kenya Power has announced power interruptions in several parts of the country on Thursday, September 11, to facilitate maintenance works.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 10, the company confirmed that the outages will affect 11 counties, namely Nairobi, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Nyamira, Kisii, Migori, Meru, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa.
In Nairobi County, the blackout will affect parts of Buruburu, Maringo, Seasons, and Dandora between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Areas listed include Maringo Shopping Centre, Huruma Girls, Charles New Road, Metropolitan Hospital, Buruburu Phase 3 and 4, Buruburu Flats, Seasons Road, Clay City Estate, Camp David, Jalyn School, Citam, Mwiki, Maili Saba, Silanga, Dandora Millers, Mowlem Heights, and adjacent customers.
In Nakuru County, power will be off from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Kiamunyi, Mercy Njeri, and surrounding areas such as Industrial, KCC, Milimani Apartments, NARUWASCO Pump, Olive Inn, Baraka Estate, Zaburi, Muiru Center, Makiki Bore Hole, Madrugada Farm, London, Soilo, and nearby customers.

Trans Nzoia County will see interruptions in Moisbridge Centre from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Matunda Centre, Kona Mbaya, Loreto, Moi’s Bridge Center, Lamayuet, Kapkoi Sisal, Bwayi, Moi’s Bridge Mission Hospital, and adjacent customers.
In Nyamira and Kisii Counties, Keroka and its environs will be off supply between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Affected areas include Nyankoba Tea Factory, Birongo Market, Keroka Town, Ichuni, Gianchere, Mongoni Secondary, Keroka DCC Office, Matangi, Amabuko Secondary, One-Hen Project, Gesabakwa, and Keroka Water.
Migori County residents in Rongo Town will also be affected within the same time frame, including Rongo University, Kodero Bara, Kanyawanga, Dede, Kwoyo Kodalo, Kanga Machine, and adjacent customers.
Meru County will experience one of the largest outages, spanning Maua, Kinna, and Garba-Tulla from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The blackout will cover Maua Town, Maua General Hospital, Maua Methodist Hospital, Kangeta Market, Maili Tatu, Laare, Mutuati, Kabachi, Antu-Betwe, Meru National Park, Kiegoi Tea Factories, Rhino Camp, Athi, Rumanthi Girls, Kiengu Bakeries, Garbatulla, Benane, and several surrounding trading centres.
In Kiambu County, the affected areas include Kiratina and Mitikenda between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Places listed are Gwa Kairu Riverside, Thome, Gatong’ora Vision Park, Agape, Sunrise, Miti Kenda, Karuguru, Mashinani, Kiratina, Kwa China, Sewage, Kwihota, and Gituamba Water Project.
Kilifi County residents in Marafa, Sabaki, and Gongoni will also be off supply from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations include Savannah, Karibuni Villas, Marafa, Garashi, Wakala, Mambrui, Mwembe Resort, Mtangani, Mass Rental, Citizen, Sabaki Moi, and Mijikenda Residence.
In Kwale County, areas along Diani Beach Road will be without electricity during the day. This includes Diani Reef, Leopard Beach, Diani Beach Hospital, Jacaranda, Southern Palms, Lilly’s Court, and Mwaroni.
Meanwhile, in Mombasa County, parts of Nyali will be affected.
The blackout will cover Fidel Odinga Road, Moyne Drive, Jamhuri Road, Greenwood Drive, Park Lane, Neem Road, Mount Kenya Road, Nyali Reef Hotel, Bahari Beach Hotel, Voyager Beach Hotel, Nyali Barracks, Nyali Beach Hotel, Mama Ngina Drive, Nyali Police, Coral Drive, and surrounding areas.
