Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across nine counties on Tuesday, September 16, to allow for essential maintenance works.
In a statement on Monday, September 15, the company said the outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Nyandarua, West Pokot, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Kitui, Mombasa, and Kilifi counties.
In Nairobi County, the areas to be affected include Pipeline and Kware, where supply will be interrupted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The specific areas are Chaminade, St. Mary’s Hosp, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Kware Police Post, Mukuru kwa Njenga Pri, Kware Statehouse, Pipeline Kware, Kwa Kimondo, Pipeline Chairmans, Muindi Mweusi S/Mkt Pipeline, Part of Plot 10 & adjacent customers.
Still in Nairobi, parts of Kilimani will also experience a power cut during the same period.

The affected locations include: Cotton Rd, Part of Dennis Pritt Rd, Kayawe Rd, Galana Rd, Part of Argwings Khodek Rd, Ring Rd, Kilimani, Part of Lenana Rd, Chania Ave, Wood Ave and Part of Kirichwa Rd.
Adlife Plaza, East Lands Hotel, French School, Yaya Centre, Prestige Plaza, Mugo Kabiru, Moi Girls Kibera, Toi Market, Woodley Est, Jamuhuri Est, Togo Flats, Part of Suna Rd, Part of Ngong Rd & adjacent customers will also be affected.
In Nyandarua County, Rumuruti will be without power between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The outage will affect the Whole of Rumuruti Town, Laikipia County Offices, Credible Blooms, Agro Tools Co. Ltd, GG Sec Sch, Matigari Pri Sch, Lorien, Lenana Flowers, Thome S/Centre & adjacent customers.
West Pokot County will also be hit by outages in Lelan and Kapsangar from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The areas listed are: Siyoi, Kaprech, Kapchila, Paraiywa, Chepkalit, Chepkono, Kalotwari, Kipat, Kokwoplekwa, Kaptabuk, Kapsangar & adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, three locations have been earmarked for the shutdown.
At Gakuyu Secondary School, the affected areas are Kirigu C/Fact, Gatina Mkt, Gakuyu Sec Sch, Mukangu Dispensary, Mukangu Mkt, Mukangu C/Fact, Gatina Village, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters & adjacent customers.
At Kimathi and Karuna-Ini, power will also go off in Kimathi High Sch, Karuna-Ini, Burton & adjacent customers.
Meru County will see a full-day outage in Nkubu Market from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected areas include Nkubu Mkt, Mikumbune Mkt, Kamacege Mkt, Mikumbune H/Center, Mikumbune Library, Consolata Hosp, Jekim Hosp, Nkubu High, Nkubu Day Sec Sch, Equity Afya Hospital, Prime Regent Hotel, Riverbank Hotel, Nyagene Sec Sch, Batian Nuts, Kieru C/Fact & adjacent customers.
In Embu County, power will be off in Ugweri and Kigaa between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The listed areas are Ugweri Mkt, Kigaa Mkt, Nthagaiya Sec, Njiru Kianda, Ngeniari Pri, Macumo Sec, Ithatha, Kiringa, Kathambaiconi Pri, Ugweri Sec, Gatinda Pri, Gatambararia, Kathugu Pri, Maruari, Kiangucu C/Fact, Kathaiya & adjacent customers.
In Kitui County, outages will affect Mwitika and Kikuu from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The areas are Kyululu Mkt, Mwitika Mkt, Gaka Yakwa Mkt, Kikuu Mkt, Kyamatu Mkt, Muthungwe, Maskalini, Mukunduni Mkt & adjacent customers.
In Mombasa County, residents of Likoni and Shikaadabu will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The specific locations include: Shikadabu, Kibaki Est, Ujamaa, Mascape Shonda, Kwa Musembi, Pungu Slaughter, Diani Beach Hospital 2, Fire, Samaki Poa, Vijiweni Kwa DC, Alamano, Mwangala, Bububu, Kibundani, Thirdword, Corner Mypa, Corner Mbaya, Soweto, Conslata, Muskiti Punda & adjacent customers.
In Kilifi County, the affected areas are Jilore, Kakoneni, and Baricho, with the outage set for 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
