Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in various parts of the country on Wednesday, September 17, as part of ongoing maintenance works.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 16, the company said Nairobi, Machakos, Murang'a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kisumu, Kiambu, Kitui, Mombasa, and Kilifi counties will be affected.
In Nairobi County, two areas will be affected. In part of Naivasha Road, the power interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Areas to be affected include Midhill Hospital, Naivasha Road Flats, Melchizedek Hospital, part of Riara Road, Riara Group of Schools, Riara Close, part of Ngong Road, part of Kingara Road, Kingara Close, Kinyanjui Road, and Riruta Satellite alongside adjacent customers.
In part of Runda, the blackout will start earlier, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting UN Crescent, UN Avenue, Whispers Road, Magnolia, Mae Property, Runda Road, Ruaka Road, Acacia Drive, Bombax Close, Runda Meadows, Flame Tree, Daisy Road, and nearby areas.

In Machakos County, areas around Kyumbi and Kiasa will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations include Kalima Kathei, Kiasa, Kyumbi Seco, Dima, Lower Kalimani, Inspector Mwala, and surrounding customers.
In Murang’a County, part of Tana and Makuyu will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Areas affected include Ciumbu Market, Kayole Mananja, Kivingoni, Mugira Saf Booster, Kasovelo, and adjacent regions.
In Nyeri County, three areas are set for power interruptions; Mwanda Market and Kiaruhiu Market will be affected from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., impacting MOW Karatina, Brookfield Academy, Karatina Jambo, Yacob Deen, Mwanda, Ndaro-ini, Kiunyu, Gatundu, Thenge-ini, Ihara, Kamunyaka Coffee Factory, Miiri Coffee Factory, Kiangai Market and Thunguri Coffee Factory.
Other affected areas are Karerahungu, Kianwe Market, Kiahiti, Kiriko, Gikororo, Kahuru, Kianjuu TBC, Ndima Tea Factory, Mathia Market, Kiriko Village, Kiaruhiu Market, Chehe TBC, Gathaithi TBC, Karandi, Gitangaruri, Kianyaga TBC, Kiangumara TBC, Ndima Kanini, Kahuro TBC, and communication boosters including Safaricom and Airtel.

In addition, Kiawara, Ruirie, and Nairutia will experience outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Kiawara, Lamuria, Bellevue, Kabendera, Ruirie, Kariminu, Tanyai, Nairutia, Mugunda, Ngobit, Kariguini, Mahiga Meru, and Matopeni.
In Kirinyaga County, power will be interrupted in Mburi and around Githiururi Coffee Factory from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Areas affected include Mburi Market, Rianjue Village, Kimweas Market, Difathas Market, Philadelphia Village, Gathiriku Village, and surrounding customers.
In Kisumu County, areas around Kibos will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations include Kibos Prisons, Civil Industry, White Call, Tamua Industries, Sugar Research, Gita Market, Nyabondo, Doreen, Chiga, Wildo, Kalusi, Kasese, Obumba, Masawa, and Achuodho.
In Kiambu County, part of Kiukenda will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Weavery Estate, Kiu Kenda, part of Kiamumbi, and adjacent areas.
In Kitui County, power maintenance will affect Kanduti and Kinakone from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected areas include Kyamusivi Market, Kanduti, Union City, Kivuuni Market, Kalulu Market, Kiusian Market, Musikio, Yongela Market, Kyango Market, Kinakone Market, Kiangwa Market, Kalwasi Market, and Voo Market.
In Mombasa County, part of Nyali and Links Road will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected sites include Links Road, Mamba, Golf Club, Premier Hospital, Total Links, Epic Center, Twiga Road, Kasuku Road, Petrocity, Hash, Telephone Exchange, Kenya Power’s Nyali Office, Beach Road Estate, Sanana, Mugoya Estate, Quick Mart, Mogadishu, Carrefour, Links Plaza, Wild Waters, Rubis Nyali, and nearby customers.
In Kilifi County, areas around Mkapuni and Kombeni will also experience a blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Locations affected include Mwele Centre, PVC Africa, Salima Gases, Kombeni Girls, Mkapuni, Mwawesa, Rabai Mining, Changombe, Chiveriy Primary, Makobeni, Mwanjama, and Kasidi.
