Kenya Power has announced planned power outages across seven counties on Thursday, September 18, as part of maintenance works.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 17, the company said the outages are expected to affect parts of Nairobi, West Pokot, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Kitui, and Mombasa counties.
In Nairobi, power will be unavailable from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m in parts of Westlands, covering Muthithi Road, Mogotio Road, Mpaka Road, Aga Khan Medical Centre, Heyatt Regency, Chiromo Lane, and surrounding customers.
Lavington will also experience interruptions, affecting Olenguruone Road, Mageta Road, Mugumo Road, Ndoto Road, Isaac Gathanju Road, Lavington Center, Naurid Merali Road, Majimazuri and Muhoya Avenue.
Jacaranda Avenue, Muthangari Road, Gitanga Road, Mbaazi Avenue, Msanduku Lane, Othaya Road, Kolloh Road, Valley Arcade, Braeside Gardens, and adjacent customers will also be affected.

In West Pokot County, the blackout will affect Murkwijit and Adurkoit, including Tartar, Kaplelach Koror, Tartar Girls, Kangilikwan, Keringet, Cheptiya, Kadogony Dispensary, Kaptarin, and Adurkoit Girls, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Nyeri County residents in Kagongo, part of Kahuria, and Mathari ATC Booster will also experience outages during the same hours.
Meru County will see power interruptions from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Ntugi, Kisima, and Marania.
Specific areas impacted include Ntugi Market, Kibirichia Market, Ntirimiti Base Station, Muruguma Market, Murinya Market, Kanguambi, Ruibi, Naari, Kimbo Market, Marania, VOK, Kironya and Kathatene.
Others are Kaburiko, Kongoni Farm, AA Growers, Embori Farm, Kisima Farm, Uhuru Flowers, PJ Dave, Kikwetu Flowers, Kisima Secondary School, Timaflow, School of Adventure, Bloomingdale, Edenbrooks, and surrounding customers.
In Embu County, Makima, Mwanyani, and Kanyonga areas, including Ngecha, Makima, Mbondoni, Kitololoni, Mwanjo, Mwanyani, Ndunguni, Kathuyani, KWS, Mwea, and Mburutani, will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kitui County’s Kitui CBD will also be affected, including Majengo, Silyumani, Ithyokwe, Mathunzini, Kiteta, Ikolonya, Wii Market, and Kyandui Market.
In Mombasa, power will be unavailable in Miritini near Weldcone, covering Weldcone, Southern Shipping, Total Jomvu, Icolo MBA 1, Transtainers, Shireji, Bayusuf, Simba EPZ Jomvu, Devki, Black Devel, and adjacent customers from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
