Kenya Power Announces Power Blackouts in 5 Counties on Sunday

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions across five counties on Sunday, September 21. 

In a statement on Saturday, September 21, the company said the outages are meant to allow maintenance works.

In Kericho County, power will be cut in Kapsoit between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Kapsoit Market, Kipchimchim Supermarket, Rubis, Telanet SCS, and adjacent customers. 

In neighboring Nandi County, residents of Arwos and surrounding areas will also experience outages during the same period.

The South Nyanza region will not be spared, with parts of Kisii Town scheduled for a full-day blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas set to be affected include Diplozz Hotel, Ram Hospital, Kisii Law Courts, Kisii Central Police Station, Co-operative Bank, Huduma Center, Rubis and Scooby. 

Others are Ufanisi Hotel, Sansora Building, Nyankongo Primary, KCB Bank, Shivling Supermarket, the Central Bank, and nearby customers.

In Murang’a County, the maintenance exercise will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., targeting Ngararia and Gatanga areas.

The blackout will affect Ngararia Town, Kibendera, Gacharage, Mungaria, Gitambuika, Magomano, Ruchu Girls School, St. Peter’s School, Kiguoya Secondary, Kandara Town and Muruka. 

Gatitu, Kagunduini, Gaichanjiru Parish, Gaichanjiru High School, Manju Secondary, Karugia, Kiriko, Mutoho, Mabanda, Mukurwe, Kwa Jogoo Kimakia, Gatunyu, Mukarara Shopping Centre and Mukarara School are also set to be affected. 

Other affected areas are Kiunyu Catholic, Kiunyu PCEA, Kiunyu Primary, Kihumbuini, Gatoka Farm, Simbi Roses, Penta Flowers, Maporomoko, Ngoigwa, Woodedge Hotel, Delview, Kari, KARLO, Thika Greens Estate, Bendo Farm, Bahati Ridge, Sip & Dip, Westridge, Thika Golf Club, Githingiri, Thika Coffee, Kenya Nut, and surrounding customers.

In Kiambu County, several areas will be affected throughout the day. 

Parts of Ruiru, Murera, and Juja Farm, including Ruiru Town, Murera Sisal, Matangi-Ini, Ndarasha, Juja Farm, Juja South Estate, Mama Mumbi, Murera Coffee, GSU Ruiru, Ruiru Kimbo, Toll Station, Mugutha, NIBS, Gitothua, BTL and Ruiru Prisons will be affected. 

Additionally, Super Form, Alpha Nits, Jetlak, Angels, New Horizons, Ruiru Kihunguro, Zetech University, Dr. Mattresses, Ukombozi, Imani Estate, Ruiru Greens, and the Ministry of Works Ruiru, will be without electricity between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Other affected zones include Thika Greens and Kari Githingiri, which cover Thika Green Estates, Githingiri Estates, KARLO, KARI, Mugumo Farm, Thika Green Golf Club, Bahati Farm, Jotis Farm, and Carton Manufacturer. 

In addition, Thiwazo and Blue Post areas, including Blue Post Hotel, Riverside Estate, Naidu Hospital, Chania Girls, Thika School for the Blind, Section 2, part of Thika Main Stage, Jogoo Kimakia Estate, Maki Estate, Maporomoko and Bendor Estate.

Penta Flowers, Kenya Nut, Shadenet, Karangaita, Enkasiti, Bahati Ridge, Simbi Roses, Kwa Nyoka, Nyakio, Silver Oak, Laurens Flowers, Hannah Roses, and part of Ngoingwa Estate, will also be affected.
