The elder Ngugi had been hospitalized at Karen Hospital for a week before being discharged to spend his final days at home.

The Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly had described the passing as a significant loss and had coordinated condolence arrangements for fellow MPs to pay their respects to the bereaved family.
