The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption along the Nairobi Southern Bypass on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
In a notice on Tuesday, October 21, KeNHA said the section of the Southern bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town will be closed from Saturday, October 25, 2025, at midnight to Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
The authority said the closure of the section will allow for the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public on the temporary closure of Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Midnight to Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
“This is to allow for the 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon,” read the notice in part.

KeNHA urged motorists to use Mombasa Road (A8) from Ole Sereni Interchange, through Uhuru Highway, and vice versa.
“All road users are further advised to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by traffic marshals and the police,” KeNHA stated.
Motorists from Kikuyu to Dagoretti will be able to access Dagoretti via the Southern Bypass.
Similarly, vehicles heading from Karen to Kikuyu can also use the Southern Bypass for easier access.
From 12:00 am to 12:10 pm, motorists from Karen shopping centre heading to Kikuyu and from Langata Road to Kikuyu via Southern Bypass will use the Dagoretti Road.
Vehicles heading from Karen to Mombasa Road will use Langata Road to get to their destinations, while those from Galleria Mall to Mombasa Road can use the Uhuru Highway through Langata Road.
Meanwhile, those heading from ICD to Kikuyu via Southern Bypass will use Waiyaki Way through Mombasa Road and Uhuru Highway, while vehicles heading to Mombasa Road from Likoni Road will use Enterprise Road.
The closure of the sections comes days after KeNHA extended the closure of a section of the Bomas-Kiserian (B19) for 42 days.
In a statement on October 17, KeNHA said the section of the Bomas-Kiserian road between Galleria to after the Catholic University of Eastern Africa junction will remain closed from Monday, October 20 to Monday, December 1, 2025.
The authority noted that the closure is due construction of two box culverts along the affected stretch.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption due to the closure of the Bomas - Kiserian (B19) Road from the section after Brookhouse/Galleria (Km 0+500) to the section after Catholic University of Eastern Africa junction (Km 1+000).
“This is due to scheduled roadworks for the construction of the 2No. Box Culverts on the road section from Monday, 20th October 2025, to Monday, 1st December 2025,” KeNHA stated.
