ODM Communications Director Philip Etale has appealed to members of the public to help identify a man caught on camera stealing valuable equipment from an Azimio TV van.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 21, Etale said the theft occurred at Total Energies in Hurlingham, where the Azimio TV crew had parked their van for cleaning while waiting for the arrival of the late Raila Odinga’s body at Lee Funeral Home.
"Someone please help us identify the man captured by the CCTV cameras at Total Energies Hurlingham.
"He walked into the carwash where the AzimioTv van was being cleaned as the crew awaited the arrival of the body of HE Raila Odinga at Lee Funeral Home and took the bag that had vital equipment including a laptop and hard drives that contained a lot," he said.
Etale noted that the suspect appeared calm and deliberate in his actions, walking away from the scene without raising any suspicion.

"The man is wearing black and is seen walking nonchalantly as if he has done nothing. We shall appreciate," he added.
This comes months after human rights activist and Vocal Africa CEO Hussein Khalid claimed that their offices were broken into and items, including important documents stolen.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 22, Khalid confirmed that the incident occurred at the organization’s premises located on Tabere Crescent in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
According to the activist, the perpetrators made away with the organization’s main laptop and several communication devices, including a camera.
"We wish to inform members of the public that our offices, situated in Kileleshwa, Tabere Crescent, Nairobi, were broken into and sensitive documents and gadgets taken away. Our main laptop is missing as well as other communication gadgets including the camera,” he said.
While the motive behind the break-in remains unclear, the organization said it had since reported the matter to Kileleshwa Police Station.
"As an organisation, we are shocked by this attack and have reported the matter at Kileleshwa Police Station. We are uncertain of the motive behind the break-in but can confirm that gadgets worth hundreds of thousands were taken away,” he added.
The organization vowed to remain vigilant and called on the authorities to act swiftly to bring those responsible to justice.
"We remain vigilant and ask the authorities to move swiftly and arrest those behind the break-in,” Khalid urged.
